Alright! Mid 2009 was the year a friend
told me he had no interest in soccer. Oh yeah! I sighed, drew back a bit and
flapped my eyelashes to catch a full picture of him and well confirm if he wasn’t high on opium. Well, that was also same
year I noticed more guys could actually pull you off with a statement like “why would I want waste my time watching
soccer?” And then you’d really need to see that “sure this guy isn’t normal” look on my face. Of
course, I used to think that guys who had little or no interest in watching
soccer usually do lead a pretty boring life. Until at a point, I realized I was
wrong about this even though I knew the interest in sports, especially soccer
could be life changing and very much healthy. This is where the usefulness
comes in. Yeah, the fact it’s life changing. You
want to know why, I bet. I’m up to the task too.
So, I’d try to be as straight
forward and candid as possible as I can. Here are the four surprising health
benefits of watching soccer.
1. Soccer Inspires You to Get Active
Fine! I could read that
question on your mind. How? How? How? Well, it’s this simple. It’s not just about
getting to scream at the strength of CR7 and his goal scoring abilities or
about how the wunderkind Messi does his dribbling and puts you to a numb after
doing the impossible with the ball between his legs. Watching these guys alone
at the top of their game is a bonus. Really! Whenever I watch FC Barcelona, for
instance, in a game, I’m always inspired to
play football. This doesn’t mean I’m going to play football at that level. But
watching them at the top of their game motivates me to get to the top of mine
(my career path). For football fans, I can tell it’s not just the pros and their fine physiques that inspire us. You’d be surprised how watching a friend compete
in a sport might encourage you to work out. And whenever you catch them
walking, laughing, and having a good time on the pitch, then you think to
yourself, if they could do this, maybe I can. The more you can relate or
connect to soccer (through the action or the athlete), the more likely it will
influence you to get moving.
2. Watching a Live Soccer Match is a Workout in Itself
Okay, so watching some
money making machines running around a rectangular pitch might not pay your
bills, but it can help you torch some calories without even trying. Oh yeah! An
average 150 pound woman burns more than 100 calories per hour attending a live
football event. And that’s just while sitting!
Walking from your car to the stadium, then up 8 or more flights of stairs to
your seat, is another way to easily torch a few more calories, not to mention
leaping from the bench when your team scores a goal. Can’t make it to the live event? No problem – catching the game on TV in the warm comfort
of your room can also do the magic. Even if you’re perched on a stool at the bar watching a 3-hour soccer game, 200
calories can still go with the wind. Stand up while you socialize for the whole
game and burn about 150 more calories. And there you are.
3. Watching Soccer is Good for Your Relationships
“The stereotype is that
there are many disagreements in relationships over the time spent watching
sports, but our evidence says otherwise,” says Lawrence A. Wenner, PhD, a Loyola Marymount University media
ethics professor who has studied sports and relationships. “Often times, women view watching sports with
their boyfriend or husband as quality time.” Oh yeah, it doesn’t matter if he’s the sports fanatic or if she is; as long as
there’s a shared interest.
Then it’s fine. You end up
having a great edge over couples who are less accommodating and supportive
(which can lead to stress and discontent). A supportive marriage is good for
your health and can help you live longer. For the ladies, the BONUS in this is
that if his team wins, it could up your chances of getting lucky at night – testosterone, the libido-enhancing hormone,
will be surging through his body, and it’s likely he’ll want to keep those
good feelings going on in the bedroom. #winks#
4. It Makes You Smarter
Now, you’ll say, “Sam is a liar. How on earth will watching soccer make me smarter?” But do you know watching soccer is just a
fine work out for your brain. In a 2008 study from the University of Chicago, a
dozen pro and college-level hockey players, eight hockey fans and nine people
who had never seen or played the sport were asked to listen to a broadcast of a
hockey game while a machine recorded their brain function. Afterward, they got
a test to analyse their comprehension. Results show that athletes and sport fans
not only understood the game much better than their counterparts but also
experienced brain activity in motor areas associated with planning, controlling
and performing. This suggests that being a spectator can help you absorb and
digest information as well as gear you up for actions.
Like seriously, on another
note, I never had to go to the pharmacist to get him or her dispense some drugs
for any ailment. I just watch football, and I get the miracle. Now look, before
this can also work for you, you’ll need to build that
uncompromising interest in soccer and in sports generally.
I hope one day everyone
gets to know the truth about watching soccer.
“And ye shall know the
truth, and the truth shall make thee mad.” – Carl Von Clausewitz, a
German (Prussian) general and military theorist.
I’d hope the stigma against soccer by some certain souls, especially
the feminine world, would stop today. Think about it. Grab the truth about
soccer. Be free. Get mad. And take on life. Are you good to go? This is soccer (known
as football in this part of the world)! Have a swell week y’all.

This is one of those moments that confirms that fashion is really a display of one's imagination, also, innate. It cannot be forced.

“Women are to be loved not understood” – Oscar Wilde.Everybody needs love quite often and Love, they say, makes the world go round. When it comes to loving a woman, so much is gained not only by those close to her but the World at large. Loving a woman can be likened to a plant that is well watered and taken care of to yield many good fruits.
Reading through the blog of Love and Relationship expert, Dr. Blessing Ehigiator, I came across a story that shows clearly how a woman can respond positively ,blossom and flourish when she is shown just the right amount of love from a partner, a friend or a family member. The story tells of a well known couple who were having marital issues and were considering divorce as an option. These issues were due to a number of things going on in the life of the woman. According to her husband, his wife was losing it; speaking about everything, from her career to her family, to her marriage and her health as well. But thank God for her husband who took it upon himself to make things different and better. He, in that state of despair and faced with the fear of losing his wife and his marriage, decided to flood her with all the love; feelings of love, acts of love, as well as sweet word of love that he could generate from his heart.
According to his account, unbelievably she began to pick up and blossomed in a way she had never done before. She became like a beautiful rainbow laced in a cloud heavy with rain. Nothing more need be said, because its obvious that their marriage was saved, thanks to the husbands decision to love her which made her feel unique and irreplaceable. Men need to remember that a woman becomes submissive when she is loved rightly and respected for who she is.
It is said that behind every great man is a woman, but I say that behind every great man is a woman who is greatly loved by him. It takes a woman who is loved and respected to help a man meet his goals. Guys know that if they want a lady to respond positively, they only have to treat her nicely and she’s all theirs. But be careful not to play with her heart because you just might be in for a different ball game. Women usually give freely what they want for themselves. A lady gives love and shows that she cares because she wants that same measure of love and even more. John Gray, author of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, stated in his book that just as men are motivated and empowered when they feel needed, women are motivated and empowered when they feel cherished.
When a woman doesn’t feel cherished in a relationship, she gradually becomes compulsively responsible and exhausted from giving too much. On the other hand, just as we have stated earlier, when she feels cared for and respected, she is fulfilled and has more to give as well. Let us not forget the origin of love, God. Love can only be given freely from a heart that genuinely loves God. Keep loving that woman in your life like she is loved by God and be sure to have your days filled with happiness, peace and of course, so much love

Schools nowadays seem to be producing financial handicaps just at the same rate as they are producing graduates. I found myself thinking about what it takes to be financially accomplished and actually create wealth (by the way am tired of the recently popular lucrative business of motivational speakers and authors. I wonder whether they address the right issues).
I am forced to investigate the plight of the ever increasing number of College/University graduates who are either unemployed or under-employed. The situation seems to pose this question: Is Schooling still the right way in this time and age? In answering this question, I realize that Schooling actually plays a very limited role if not totally insignificant in wealth creation today.
For crying out loud We are in the Information Age! One would think Education should be the Core of Success rather, Schooling has become an overrated "tradition" which the society must conform to. Maybe we can rescue the situation by posing another question: Is Education today relevant for today's world? Its amazing to know that the world is gradually succeeding without School. Let us make a note that every Age has its own dynamics and means of survival, you can ask the medieval man or the pre-civilization man.
There lived a time when organized Education in a School system was the means for human survival. Those years when College certificate was god. I think those times have ended. The world has moved into a society of Radical Independent Visionaries who thirst for landmark and I know that organized school system cannot quench this thirst.
This breed of visionaries are the "first" and they are fiercely driven. They want to lead the way in accomplishments by methods of independent freedom. I am not saying the world has never had Visionaries, no, not at all. What I am saying is this; the millennial society is producing "entrevisionaries" - those with vision to manifest as Entrepreneurs.
Fifty years ago, a College degree will put a person in an enviable position in the society as well as a matching lifestyle. Today, the reverse is the case; ask a Microsoft or Facebook staff with an ivy league certificate if perhaps I just told a white lie.
Am I against education? Hell No! It only seem that nowadays, the Television, Magazines, Internet, Google, iPad, iPhone, Blackberry and Hollywood is doing more of educating than my textbooks. I think the present system of schooling worldwide is not doing enough to feed this generation with the dynamic and unique hunger for Information it has. I am not too narrow in my thinking to forget the need for scientists like Engineers and Doctors who have to go to school but we do still have poor Doctors and Engineers out there that cannot pay their bills. Like I said this is just my thought. By the way I am a Law student! I love my course of study, I am not some bitter unemployed graduate. Nevertheless, is school still the right way or has it become a "traditional" way of earning prestige without actually bringing enough food to the table?

Conversation involve much more than simply words – cues such as voice tone and body language also convey information such as enthusiasm, sadness, emotion and truthfulness and these cues are what makes for good conversations.
Face to face conversation is becoming more of a luxury than the norm and I often wonder if 10 years from now we would be conversing at all, yet it is believed that conversation is critical to our well-being and especially important for children development.
What makes a good conversations has changed little over the years: “Speak clearly; speak easily but not too much, especially when others want their turn; do not interrupt; be courteous; deal seriously with serious matters and gracefully with lighter ones; never criticize people behind their backs; stick to subjects of general interest; do not go on and on about yourself; and, above all, never lose your temper.”
Sadly all that is changing in the face of technology, people don’t need to speak to one another, they can text it, tweet it, post it, e-mail it or Facebook it. Who needs vocal cords when you have technology? Emotions are now being conveyed with an array of smiley albeit poorly. The few that makes the attempt can barely keep from looking at their phones every now and then giving the impression of being more interested in their phones than the company.
Dates these days are becoming more of a formality as those critical things that require face to face conversations are discussed in the bland/emotionless world of social media denying people the pleasure of truly enjoying the emotions that comes with it. People already know almost everything about a person before they actually meet and talk for the first time.
I miss conversations, I have always enjoyed talking to people and learning their stories. When you speak to a person, face-to-face, you gain added knowledge about the story and about the people themselves; you hear the emotions involved with the story that technology hasn’t been able to capture.
Gone are the days when you’ll have to find witty ways to keep conversation going all through a date. Maybe I’m Sounding this way because not too long ago (early/mid 2000s), we had the pleasure of enjoying good conversations without the extra encumbrance of social media and I'm nostalgic.
When was the last time you had a conversation? And I mean an actual face to face conversation, one where you learned more than just the surface value of a person, one that lasted more than a few minutes, one that would be remembered easily, one that doesn't involve checking your phone every now and then, one without the luxury of re-reading every last bit or one that does not involve our various tech gadget.
Have a conversation. Do that once a week, Learn about people, Talk to people, Practice the art of conversation. Conversation is a dying art and it makes me sad.
The 18-year-old actress, singer , dancer and model got some class and maaddd style yeah?

I remember reading the story of a woman who had to raise her two sons on her own with nothing much of an income. With prayers and wisdom, two jobs and a little support from the government, she was able to send her boys to school. When she learnt that the younger of her two boys wasn't doing well at school, she ensured her boys spent less time on other unnecessary activities and more time reading and studying.
She didn't want them to end up on the last rung of the social ladder. There was a significant improvement in their studies and they later became geniuses in their own fields. The older son is now an aeronautics engineer while the younger, a world renowned neurosurgeon. Am sure I can hear someone saying "oh that should be Ben Carson of course". Yes, you sure are right. And the woman that encouraged them to be the best is their mother Sonya Carson.
The above story makes me wonder how a woman with a very little education herself could have done that on her own. Then I came to realize and also understand that,God,having created the woman from the man, didn't make her less strong than him. He only added some attributes that would enable her be a proper help meet for him. This makes me remember the saying that what a man can do, a woman can do even better.
A woman is the spark that lights up a man's vision. Whatever is given to her to care for turns out to be a lot better than it was before or better still creates something new from it. Give her an old bucket, it becomes a lovely flower pot in her hands(typical of my mother). Give her some flowers then she creates a garden. Give her a house, she turns it into a home. What about when love is given to her? Find out in the subsequent article...
